Meditation does not have to be complicated, like one may think. In fact, I think that it is best to keep the basics in mind.
When learning about meditation, remember that meditation doesn’t need to have a “step-by-step method”. Remember, there are many steps to the process, so let’s consider the steps of finding your meditation object. This might be a feather duster, meditation cushions, a rubber mat, etc. When your meditation object is chosen, it can be used for meditation on its own.

Even though we may not be aware of it, we are all living in a period of stress, and this is leading to us experiencing illnesses, living shorter and less healthy lives, and maybe even causing us to die earlier than we should. This is just one of the negative effects of stress. But one way to avoid stress is to learn meditation.
Meditation should not be an ordeal, for you to go through. It is something you can do once in a while and take it as it comes, for it is always best to learn meditation slowly. Then you will get to see how your body feels when you meditate, as well as how your mind is.
When learning meditation, the first thing you need to do is to set the right level of expectation, of what you will get from it. Some people who want to learn meditation spend their entire lives studying, trying every new technique. The thing is, they never make any progress because they are living in their past, looking at it in the past tense.
Meditation is actually becoming timeless. You must be able to look into the future, at the moment when you began, and at the moment when you can finish your meditation.
Begin by finding your object of meditation, and then try your best to set up a quiet place to meditate. However, if you can’t find one, or the place that you want to meditate in is too noisy, you can always set up a mediation room, or set up the meditation object in a quiet area of your home, a spare bedroom, office, dorm room, etc.
Set up a place that is quiet and you can easily enter, like a room with a sofa or a bed, for example. When setting up the meditation object, do not worry too much about the details, but just try to find a place that is quiet and peaceful, and that is also comfortable to meditate in.
The key thing is that you should keep the peace of mind that you set up for yourself in your meditation. Meditating should never be a stressful experience. So before you begin, start with some relaxation techniques. For example, deep breathing exercises, some stretching, and some relaxing music (silence is best, not too loud, preferably).

The main point to keep in mind is that when you meditate, it should be for the purpose of achieving peace of mind. Once you achieve this, your meditation should become more peaceful and relaxed, so that it takes on its own momentum and energy, and you can expect a longer period of meditation.
In order to practice meditation properly, you have to know exactly what your aim is, and this is the essence of the meditation process. Once you know this, you are ready to begin the meditation process. It should not be a tiresome or difficult task, and it should not need too much effort.
